Ozone Layer

What is the ozone layer?
Ozone layer is a layer or a shield that protects planet earth from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun.
Why Is The Ozone Layer Important?
The ozone layer in the atmosphere give us important protection from the rays of the sun. The ozone layer absorbs the ultraviolet rays that can cause sunburn and cancer.
How is the ozone layer getting damaged?
The ozone layer gets damaged by types of molecules, which is making chemical reactions, also making contact with the ozone layer. It causes the ozone layer to break down and makes it unable to absorb the ultraviolet light. The main molecules that are damaging the ozone layer is called chlorofluorocarbons.

What effects does the ozone layer does to the Forest?
The ozone layer protects the entire earth from the ultraviolet rays of the sun also including the animals, the humans and the plants. But the chlorofluorocarbons damages parts of the ozone layer. Now the ozone layer are harming the plants and animals and including us.

Kauri Dieback

It has been brought to our attention that the infectious disease that is killing our native Kauri Giants and perhaps limiting the growth of future Kauri, has been gravely affected by the contamination of footwear that can be passed on by miniscule spores.

The Department of Conversation has actioned an awareness campaign using a rage of media to inform and promote awareness not only for the New Zealanders but also for the hundreds of tourists that visit our beautiful land.

Kauri has been infected from Kauri Dieback which is a result because of the roots of the kauri have been disturbed by us.  It may also damage the tissues of the roots that carries the nutrients inside the tree. The movement of we do to the soil causes the Kauri trees to be infected. It damages the branches and it makes the leaves fall off there branches.

Should Pests Be Treated With Respect From Us?

Image result for possums eating birdsImage result for native birds of new zealand
Today we had a discussion based around how we express our feelings about the view of a group known as Nature Watchers who believe that ‘Animals that are called pests’ by the Predator Free Groups should be treated with more respect’.

The topic of discussion was based on the idea that other groups including the Department Of Conservation are planning New Zealand to be predator free by 2050.

Our task was to write an argument about pests that are killing wildlife. I was asked to agree, disagree or express my ideas based on the information supplied and read.

I partly agree. I believe predators that are called pests should not kill our native animals in Aotearoa.

Pests such as feral cats kill millions of our native animals every year and they spread diseases that can affect other animals. Animals pests come from outside New Zealand and are a danger to our wildlife.

The Government Group will help to get rid of pests such as rats, possums and stoats and they are asking all the New Zealanders to help get rid of these horrible pests. New Zealand will be predator free by the year 2050. The evidence comes from "Predator Free NZ".

The Morgan Foundation wants New Zealand to have no pests by the year 2050. They have upset cat owners because of their website "Cats To Go". The Morgan Foundation wants cat owners in New Zealand to own only one cat and if it dies they can no longer get another cat. Feral cats are one of our pests in New Zealand - they hunt birds, lizards, insects and other wildlife.

Dr Jamie Steer in the magazine Spinoff says, "we can't make New Zealand completely native". He believes that we need a better mix of animals in New Zealand.

I believe that The Government Group and The Morgan Foundation are right. There should be no pests killing our native animals in New Zealand.

New Zealand should be predator free from pests!

Duffy Assembly!

It time to laugh out loud by the amazing and funny Duffy Hero Harry!

Today our Duffy Hero Harry have cracked our socks off by his funny story in our Duffy Assembly.

He talked about many things about books that changed his life. The first time he saw a book he went to a store and he thought it was a dvd, so hilarious!

When he was young he would always go to the library reading books. His story was so funny when he talked about one time he was getting distracted by a noise of chatter when he was reading a book. He looked around the library and when he saw a girl with brown long hair, big brown eyes and big juju lips. The girl turned around and walked out. Henry cried for exactly 7 days, 14 hours, 21 minutes and 10 seconds. We all laughed so loud, louder than a tiger who roars.

1 year later, he went to the library to read some books. He got distracted every time whenever he read his book like the annoying noise. He slammed his book and walked around the library and saw the same girl from before. Brown long hair, brown big eyes and very big juju lips but she wore a red dress that matches the red book that she is holding. She turned around and flicked her dress and Harry, he looked like he was admiring the girl! and we were laughing hard out. This time the girl like Harry but then Harry asked “Are you done with the book? because it looks pretty cool.” Then the girl burst out sadness and walked out. We all laughed!, it was so funny. That was the funniest story I have ever heard.

That was the end of the story and we all liked it. Harry is the funniest Duffy hero I have ever met!
